In the 1800 century Angelo Cimarosti, an Italian craftsman, came to Denmark to make the beautiful Terazzo floors for brewer Carl Jacobsens new museum “NY CARLSBERG GLYPTOTEK” in Copenhagen. The work took many years and, he settled in Denmark with his wife, Maria, and in 1907 Vittorio “CIMI” Cimarosti was born.
“CIMI” was the grandfather of Tina Mikkelsen founder and CEO of CIMI BEAUTY BAGS. He spent his whole life travelling all over the world, working for the king of Denmark, Frederik IX, all through her child hood stories about far away kingdoms and grand cities were told. And the treasures from all these far away places, Mandalay, Siam and Rangoon are kept as family icons. As a tribute to her Italian grandfather she named her company “CIMI "
The story according to Tina:
At the beginning the company had its address in my garage, and the collection was made in an afternoon. In 1998 I head hunted my friend Glenna Jensen, she was the first employee and Glenna is today head of sales in Denmark and co owner of the company. Today we are 9 dedicated persons working with design, marketing and sales. In 2008 we moved to a brand new domicile in Gjesing, where we have the space to create and innovate.
Our philosophy is to create fashion designed cosmetic bags with an eye for the details.
Knowing women's need of a cosmetic bag and what details makes travel easier, has today moved the company into new heights.
Today CIMI is a global company with design and marketing in Denmark and production in Asia in controlled factories. We sell our products under registered brands such as “KAREN” washable luxury and “GILLIAN JONES” high end Travel items such as cosmetic bags, beauty boxes, and make-up purses. Newly launched is “GILLIAN JONES” TRAVEL ACCESSORIES
A line of bags, umbrellas, check-in bags and luggage belt, designed to make travel easier. In 2010 GILLIAN JONES House of beauty secrets was launched and a line of exquisit make-up mirrors was put on sale in over 400 stores in Denmark, Finland, Scandinavia and Benelux.
